Hibbert, John Tomlinson, M.P., Oldham 1862-74 and since 1877, M.A., St. John's Coll., Camb., 1851, financial secretary to the treasury, 1884, under-secretary of state home department 1883-4, secretary to Local Government Board 1871-4 and 1880-3, J.P., D.L., vice-chairman of court of annual general sessions for Lancashire House of Correction, a student of Lincoln's Inn 31 May, 1845 (then aged 20), went to the Inner Temple 21 April, 1849, where he was called to the bar 4 May, 1849 (eldest son of late Elijah Hibbert, Esq., of Oldham, Lancashire); born 5 Jan., 1824; married 1st, , 1847, Eliza Anne, eldest dau. of Andrew Schofield., Esq., of Oldham; she died , ; he married 2ndly, , 1878, Charlotte Henrietta, 4th dau. of late Admiral Warde, K.H., of Squerryes Court, Westerham, Kent.
