Jones, Robert Oliver, stipendiary magistrate Cardiff since 1858, chairman of Glamorgan quarter sessions, J.P., D.L., high sheriff 1838, educated at Royal Military Coll., Sandhurst, served in the army 1829-34, a student of the Middle Temple 21 Nov., 1846, called to the bar 25 Jan., 1850 (eldest son of Major-Genl. Oliver Thomas Jones, lieut.-coI. 18th hussars, dec.); born 16 Dec, 1811; married 1st, 13 Sept., 1843, Alicia, dau. of Evan Thomas, Esq., of Sully, Glamorgan; she died 1 April, 1851, leaving issue; he married 2ndly, 30 Aug., 1853, Sarah Elizabeth, dau. of John Bruce Bruce-Pryce, Esq., of Duffryn, Glamorgan, sister of Lord Aberdare; she died 7 Oct., 1869 (see Foster's Peerage).
