Lely, John Mountney, M.A. Magdalen Coll., Oxon (1st class moderations, 2nd class classics), a member of the Oxford circuit, editor of Wharton's Law Lexicon, editor of Chitty's Statutes of Practical Utility, joint author of Agricultural Holdings Acts, editor of Hodges' Law of Railways, editor of Woodfall's Law of Landlord and Tenant, 11th and 12th editions, joint author of Lely and Foulkes' Licensing Acts 1828-74 and of The Judicature Acts 1873 and 1875, etc., author of Law of Municipal Corporations, a student of the Inner Temple 26 April, 1866 (then aged 26), called to the bar 26 Jan., 1869 (younger son of late John Lely Ostler, Esq., of Cawthorpe, co. Lincoln); born 12 Aug., 1839; married 17 July, 1869, Mary Letitia, dau. of late Major George Carr, 21st Bengal N.I., and has a dau.
