Metcalfe, William James, Q.C, M.A., judge of county courts (circuit No. 54) since 1879, recorder of Norwich since 1874, of Ipswich 1866-74, M.A., St. John's Coll., Camb., 1845, president of Bristol Law Student Society, a student of the Inner Temple 22 April, 1842 (then aged 24), called to the bar 2 May, 1845, Q.C. 3 Feb., 1873 (eldest son of Rev. William J. Metcalfe, rector of Foulmire, co. Camb.); born , 1818; married 1st, 13 May, 1848, Georgina, 3rd dau. of George Austin, Esq., of Hornsey; she died , 1855; he married 2ndly, 22 Nov., 1859, Agnes Mary, widow of Major Newall, dau. of Thomas Vaughan, Esq., co. Galway; she died , 1874.
