Needham, Sir Joseph, chief justice of Trinidad since 1870 and of Vancouver Island 1855-70, knighted 13 Feb., 1873, a student of the Middle Temple 2 June, 1837, called to the bar 22 Nov., 1846 (2nd son of James O. Needham, of Uxbridge, Middlesex); born 1 Sept., 1812; married 30 March, 1844, Jane, eldest dau. of Col. Roderick Eraser, of Inverness-shire (see Foster's Baronetage).
