Pitt-Lewis, George, recorder of Poole Jan., 1885, a member of the Western circuit, one of the originators of and since its establishment in Dec, 1883, a member of the Bar Committee, author of Pitt-Lewis' Complete Practice of County Court, assumed the additional surname of Pitt by royal licence 1876, a student of the Middle Temple 28 April, 1868, certificate of honour 1st class May, 1869, Inns of Court studentship Nov., 1869, called to the bar 10 June, 1870 (eldest son of Rev. George Tucker Lewis, of Exminster, Devon); born 13 Dec, 1845; married 15 Sept., 1881, Mai, only surviving child of late Genl. John George Palmer, late staff corps Indian army.
