Rennie, (Hon.) Sir Richard Temple, chief justice of China and Japan since 1881 and knighted 30 Nov., 1882, puisne judge Japan 1878-81, a student of the Inner Temple 30 Oct., 1857 (then aged 18), called to the bar 6 June, 1860 (4th son of late George Rennie, Esq., of London); born , 1839; married 16 Nov., 1867, Marie, widow of Thomas de la Ruez (see Foster's Baronetage).
