Salter, William Henry Gurney, matric. London Univ. 1854 from Amersham Grammar School, the shorthand writer to the houses of parliament since 1872, assistant 1863-72, a student of Lincoln's Inn 12 Nov., 1868 (then aged 30), called to the bar 26 Jan., 1874 (eldest son of Rev. William Augustus Salter, of Leamington); born 13 Dec, 1837; married 22 Sept., 1870, Jane, dau. of F. Reyner, Esq., of Thornfield Hall, Ashton-under-Lyne.
