Shippard, Sidney Godolphin Alexander, puisne judge of supreme court of Cape Colony since 1882, attorney-general Griqualand West and member of Legislative and Executive Councils 1876-82, D.C.L., M.A. Magdalen Coll., Oxon, a student of the Inner Temple 1 April, 1863 (then aged 25), called to the bar 26 Jan., 1867 (elder son of late William P. Shippard, capt. 29th foot); born , 1838; married 19 Jan., 1864, Maria Susanna, 2nd dau. of Sir Andrew Stockenström, Bart., late lieut.-governor Cape of Good Hope (see Foster's Baronetage).
