Somes, George, M.A., Worcester Coll., Oxon, 1863, chairman second court Surrey quarter sessions since 1880, deputy chairman 1874–80, J.P., a member of the Midland circuit, a student of Lincoln's Inn 29 Jan., 1864 (then aged 36), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1871 (3rd son of Samuel Francis Somes, late of Stepney, Middlesex, shipowner, dec.); born , 1828; married 18 May, 1854, Caroline Mary, dau. of Rev. Brownlow Villiers Layard, rector of Uffington, co. Lincoln.
