Stephen, Robert Swan, M.A., St. John's Coll., Camb., 1876, member of the court of Tynwald, junior member for Douglas in the House of Keys 1881, lieut. in Isle of Man rifle corps 1868, an advocate of the Manx bar 1868, secretary and librarian to the Isle of Man Law Society, a student of Lincoln's Inn 7 May, 1864 (then aged 20), called to the bar 30 April, 1867 [eldest son of (Hon.) John Glower Stephen, of Ramsay, Isle of Man, second deempster]; born 30 Nov., 1843; married 16 July, 1872, Caroline, only dau. of Capt. Mark Wilks Goldie, of Douglas, member of the House of Keys; she died 7 Jan., 1875 (see Foster's Our Noble and Gentle Families).
