Stewart, Mark John, M.P. Wigtown burghs 1874–80, lieut.-col. Ayrshire and Galloway artillery volunteers since 1879, M.A., Christ Church, Oxon, 1860, from Winchester Coll., a member of the Northern circuit, J.P., D.L. co. Kirkcudbright, a student of Lincoln's Inn 17 Nov., 1856 (then aged 22), went to the Inner Temple 15 and called to the bar there 27 Jan., 1862 (eldest son of Mark Sprot Stewart, Esq., of Southwick, co. Kirkcudbright, N.B.); born , 1834; married 26 July, 1866, Marianne Susanna, only child of late John Orde Ommaney, Esq., and has issue (see Foster's Scots M.P.'s).
