Herts 1848, J.P. Hunts, deputy chairman quarter sessions Beds 1865-79, chairman since April, 1879, a student of the Inner Temple 5 April, 1848 (then aged 23), called to the bar 2 May, 1851 (eldest son of William Stuart, Esq., of Aldenham Abbey, Herts); born 7 March, 1825; married 13 Sept., 1859, Katharine, eldest dau. of John Armytage Nicholson, Esq., J.P.; she died 16 Oct., 1881, leaving issue (see Foster's Peerage, M. Bute).
