Surtees, Frederick Richard, arbitrator to commission for slave trade suppression Cape of Good Hope 1842–62, educated at Westminster (king's scholar), a student of the Inner Temple 10 Nov., 1835 (then aged 20), called to the bar 25 Jan., 1839 (2nd son of William Villiers Surtees, of Rotherfield, Sussex, and of the Inner Temple, bar.-at-law, dec.); born , 1815; married 3 Jan., 1843, Anne Jane, eldest dau. of Rev. and Hon. Charles Douglas, of Earl's Court, co. Tyrone; she died s.p. 10 Jan., 1868 (see Foster's Peerage, E. Morton).
