Walter Thomas, puisne judge Natal since July, 1883, police magistrate and commissioner at Harisputtu, Ceylon, 1868, acting director of public instruction Ceylon 1869, police magistrate Colombo 1869, Panvila 1870, Gampela, Pussellawa, and Nawalapitya 1871, district judge Chilaw 1872-7, Kurunegala 1879, and of Badulla 1879-83, B.A., Worcester Coll., Oxon (open classical scholarship, 1st class honours in law), 1867, librarian 1865-7, open classical exhibition Lincoln Coll., Oxon, 1863, a student of the Inner Temple 21 April, 1866 (then aged 23), called to the bar 27 Jan., 1879 (3rd son of John P. Wragg, Esq., of Sheffield); born 1 Sept., 1842.
