Note: The grounds for promulgation of this Royal Decree are as follows: Whereas Umphang minor district, Mae Sot district, Tak province, encompasses a vast and arid area located greatly far away from Mae Sot district, Tak province, causing difficulties every time a contact has to be made with the district or[1] province due to the necessity to travel through forests and mountains, and sometimes requiring passage through the Burmese territory for facility, which is likely to result in unsafety, it is appropriate to elevate the said minor district to a district, for the sake of the administration and the provision of convenience to local inhabitants, as well as for the promotion of local development.
