court or authority the oath or affirmation was taken, averring such court or authority to have had full power to administer the same, together with the proper averment or averments to falsify the matter or matters wherein the perjury is assigned, without setting forth any part of the record or proceedings, either in law or equity, other than as aforesaid, and without setting forth the commission or authority of the court, or other authority before whom the perjury was committed, or the form of the oath of affirmation, or the manner of administering the same.

Persons bribing judges, justices, or members of general assembly. Penalty for.Sect. 84. If any person or persons shall, directly or indirectly, give any sum or sums of money, or any other bribe, present, or reward, or any promise, contract, obligation, or security for the payment or delivery of any money, present, or reward, or any other thing, to obtain or procure the opinion, judgment, or decree of any judge or justice of the peace acting within this territory, or to corrupt, induce, or influence such judge, or justice of the peace to be more favorable to one side than to the other, in any suit, matter, or cause depending or to be brought before him or them, or shall, directly or indirectly, give any sum or sums of money, present, or reward, or any promise, contract, obligation, or security for the payment or delivery of any money, present, or reward, or other thing, to obtain, procure, or influence the vote of any member of the general assembly, or to incline, induce, or influence any such member of the general assembly, to be more favorable to one side than the other, on any question, election, matter or thing pending, to be brought before the general assembly, or either house thereof, the person so giving any money, bribe, present or reward, promise, contract, obligation, or security, with intent and for the purpose aforesaid, and the judge, justice of the peace, or member of the general assembly, who shall in anywise accept or receive the same, shall be deemed guilty of bribery, and, on conviction, shall be punished by confinement in the penitentiary, not less than one year, nor more than five years.

If any person shall, directly or indirectly, give any sum or sums of money, or any other bribe, present or reward, or any promise, contract, obligation, or security for the payment of any money, present or reward, or any other thing, to any judge, justice of the peace, sheriff, coroner,
