Mr. Friedman. Counselor, let me put it this way as far as the newspapers are concerned. We have the finest newspapers in the world. They enjoy freedom of the press as they should.

In our democratic countries they are uncensored, as they should be. | would say to you, Counselor, thai if anc when these newspapers are able te wet the scene of an actual crime,a Valentine massacre, a drown- img, come upon a dead body, that is the newspaper photographers ambition.

TESTIMONY OF DR. LAURETTA BENDER, SENIOR PSYCHIATRIST, BELLEVUE HOSPITAL, NEW YORK, N. Y.

The Chairman. Doctor, will you state your full name, address, and association, for the record, please?

Dr. Bender. My full name is Dr. Lauretta Bender. Tam an M.D. My New York City resicential address is 146 West 16th Street. I have gnite a number of associations,

The major ones are that Tama senior psychiatrist on the psyehiatric division of Lellevne Ilospital, a civil-service position in New York City, a position 1 have had since 1930, and since 1934 I have been in charge of the children's ward.

I am also a professor of clinical psychiatry in New York University Medical School.

I am also on the training program of the Veterans' Administration, which is associated with the New York University Medical School.

I am on the editorial beard of the National Comic Companies as an adviser, on the advisory editorial beard.

This spring I accepted an appointment as consultant in child psychiatry in the New Jersey Neuropsychiatric Institute.

I think that covers the major ones.
