From: The Rt.Hon Lord Cledwyn of Penrhos P.C., C.H.,

15 October, 1980.

Dear Nick,

I have not seen you since I received Willie Whitelaw's letter of the 17th September but, needless to say, I was delighted that you both felt able to come to what I regard as the only possible decision given the developing circumstances.

You will probably be aware that an enthusiastic meeting in Cardiff decided to set up an Association of Welsh Broadcasters representing all those who work in radio and television both Welsh and non-Welsh speaking. They have sent me the enclosed paper, a copy of which I have sent to Willie Whitelaw, and which you will also with to study. I hope it will help you in your thinking and feel sure you will agree that it is important to start the whole thing off on the right kind of co-operative basis.

Yours ever,
Cledwyn.
