editors get at the first editions. As such, the service rendered by the bibliographer in this line is really invaluable.

Next we shall pass on to systematic bibliography. This method consists of the collection and arrangement of titles of books and writings, dealing with a particular subject. By following this method, the bibliographer enables the student to trace and find the existing books concerning the subject of his choice. For this, the bibliographer has to examine the individual books and assemble their resulting entries in logical and useful sequence for reference and study. The work turned out by the Unesco-Library of Congress Bibliographical Survey in this field is worthy of special mention.

A Word to Bibliographers

Bibliographers on modern subjects can never rest on their oars ; they have got to be always alert; they have immense work to do if they do not want to be left behind their times. They have to consult the bibliographies of modern books, publishers' lists and library catalogues, journals, reviews and periodicals. Besides, they have got to exercise great care in the arrangement of the entries so that there may not be any over – lapping among them. Let not the bibliographers feel that they are nothing better than mere cataloguing
