From Glasgow to Hamilton, by Bothwell Castle, which you must stop to see, 12 miles.
From Hamilton to Lanark, by the new road, 15 miles.
It is a very beautiful drive from Hamilton to Lanark; look at the Avon River as you cross it, about a mile from Hamilton.
When you come within a few miles of the town of Lanark, inquire for the fine fall of Clyde, called Stone Biers Force; go to the white seat you will see to the left of the road, look at the fall from it, and then go up the river, to the mill-house, and get some one there to shew you the way down close by the mill, to the very bottom of the fall, where you will see it in all its grandeur.
