תרונוס m. (~~~~) chair, throne. Tanh. T'rumah 9 וכ׳ של ח׳ על . . . שלא עד (some ed. טט, corr. acc.) so long as the Temple was not built, the world rested on a throne of two legs; when the Temple was built, the world stood firm (v. בסס); Y'lamd. ib., quot. in Ar. תרנוס; Tanb. ed. Bub. ib. 8 תרנוס (Var. תרכוס; corr. acc.). Gen. R. s. 68 ת׳ וכ׳ שלש של (not תרכוסא) he showed him (Jacob) a throne on three legs (the three pillars of the world); Yalk. ib. 119 תרנוס. Y. Sabb. תרונתק, reaa. תרונק, e. תרונקס m. 3p(~4) trident, fork, used as a tool in writing, prob. for levelling the paper (cmp. Lat. charta dentata). Kel. XVI, 8 תיק וכ׳ תיק ות׳ מכתב the case for the stylus and the trident, the case of &c. -- [The corrupt. of our w. arose from a. dittography of the next following word תק or תיק, -- which gave rise to the etymology תרירהק. -- Hai Gaon explains our w. with המנק.]
תרועה f. (b. h. רוע I) blowing the trumpet, esp. I'ru'ah, a rapid succession of three notes, tremolo. R. Hash. IV, 9 ת׳ שיעור, v. יבבה. Ib. 34a וכ׳ ת׳ שיעור כת׳ תקיעה ששיעור the value of a T'ki ah is equal to a T'ru ah, and that of a T'ru ah is equal to three Shh'barim. Ib. עצמה בפני ת׳ וכ׳ ות׳ tki ah (the verb תקע) means one thing, and tru ah (the verb הריע) another thing; היא אחת ותר׳ תקיעה they mean the same; a. fr. -- Pl. תרועות. Ib. IV, 9 ת׳ כשלש, v. תקיעה. תרופה f. (b. h.; רוף, v. רפף, a. רפא) release, healing. Snh. 100a (ref. to Ez. XLVVII, 12) ממש לת׳ אמר יוחנן ר׳ (Ms. F. לתרפיון, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 400) R. תרז (cmp. טרד), Hif. התריז to squirt, splash; to have diarrhea, commit a nuisance. Hull. 38a במתרזת when the animal discharges with a splash, opp. בשותתת, v. שתת I. B. Kam. 47b ומת וה׳ חטין אכל the animal ate wheat, and got diarrhcea and died; B. Mets. 90a ומתרזת אוכלת היתה. Succ. 53b; Yoma 77a ומתריזזין, v. פרע; KKidd. 72b ומתריזין עצמם (corr. acc.). Nif. נתז to be shocked, frightened; to be seieed witth a panic. Lev. R. s. 1 וכ׳ מתוך ונתרזין, v. פניקטין; Tanh. T'rum. 9 אהליהם בתוך ונתרזין (not לתוך) and be panic- stricken in their camps. Ib. נתרזין והן and they were frightened.
תרז m. (cmp. רזי, a. ארז) hard wood, wild oak. Targ. Is. XLIV, 14 (h. text תרזה).
תרח, Ithpe. איתרח (denom. of רוה) [to breathe,] to rest, wait. Targ. Y. Deut. I, 6 (v., however, ארח). -- Sabb. 134a וכ׳ ליה ליתרחו (Ms. M. לישתהי; Ar. ליתרהו) let them wait with his circumcision, until the blood withdraws from the surface. Ib. 136a וכ׳ ליה איתרחיתו אי if you had waited until evening to kkill it, we should have eaten. of it. M. Kat. 28a וכ׳ לי איתרח (Ms. M. איתרך, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) give me thirty days time. Arakh. 9a קא וכ׳ סיהרא מתרהא Ar. (Var. מתאחר) the new month would be delayed ttwo (three) days; (ed. מייתרא the old month would gain &c.). Nidd. 30b וכ׳ יומין ארבעין אתרח Var. (read; אתרהא; ed. אייתרה) she may have waited forty days and then become pregnant; a. e. -- B. Kam. 80b מאן וכ׳ ניתרח נתרח (Rashi to Gitt. 68b ניתרח תרח מאן) who shall wait (in the antechamber) sshall Samuel wait, and Rab and R. Asi enter?; אסי רב או רב ונתרח but should Rab have waited or Rab Asi? [Ms. M, וכ׳ ניטרח טרח מאן who should be troubled? &c.] Pa. תיח to cause to wait, keep back. Gitt. 68b תיחיה וכ׳ גביה (Ar. חרהייה Paeli) he kept him with him until &c. Af. אתריח 1) to be liberal. Y. B. Mets. VI, beg. 10d לא לכון מתריח חייה אנא אלא . . . דאנא (ed. Krot. מתרית, corr. acc.) not that I am legally bound to give you your wages, but I, Hiya, am liberal towards you. -- 2) to allow time. Ab. Zar. 18a מתיח מתרחנא (not מרתח; Ms. M. מתרחנא only; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) I will give you time (wait until you are well again); [prob. to be read; מרתתנא I am hot, v. רתה.]
תרטא, תי׳ m. (תרט; cmp. תרוט) a flat stone, quoit of a certain size, tirta. Hull. 124a ת׳ כי אפי׳ (Ar. תריטא) even (if the piece of flesh cut of with the hide in flaying be) as large as a tirta; B. Kam. 97b ח׳ כי אפי׳ Ms. R. a. Alf. (Ms. H. תרטא, corrected תררטא, read; תריטא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 80; ed. תרטיא, corr. acc.) even (if the new coin be) as large &c. -Trnsf. a market term for a certain. portion of meat, a slice. Bets. 29a top ופלגו ת׳ אמרי בסורא ת׳ (Rashi Ms. תריטא) in Sura they say (when asking for meat on the Holy Day, when it is not permitted to mention the price or to weigh), give me a tro, or half a tirta.
