תנא m. (preced.) teacher, esp. Tanna, an authority quoted in Mishnah and Boraitha, contrad. to אמורא. B. Mets. 3a, a. fr. תונא ות׳ and the Tanna (of the Mishnah) is a confirmation (confirms what Isay). - קמא תת׳, v. קמא. -- ברא ת׳, v. בר I ch. B. Bath. 93b וכ׳ בתרא ח׳ כל (Ar. ברא) every later (Ar. outside) authority comes only to enlarge ttho sphere of the subject.
