גבל m. (גבל) kneader, baker. Pes. 34a וכ׳ בית של ג׳ was the baker for the house of Rabbi. Ib. 46a ולתפלה לג׳ וכ׳ in order to get a kneader (that observes levitical purity), for prayer (in a synagogue) and for washing hands (for a meal) one is bound to walk four mils (no more). Keth. 72a וכ׳ תקן ג׳ פלוני a certain kneader pre- pared for me the dough according to the law of Hallah.

גבלול m. (גבל) a lump of dough taken out for form- ing cakes &c., a roll of dough. Y. Halll. II, beg. 59a חלה ג׳ כמין the priest's gift must be, in shape and substance, like a roll. -- Pl. גבלולין. Ib. ג׳ ג׳ משתיעשה from the time that the dough is divided into lumps.

XIV, 9 ג׳ איזה what balcony is called Giblith? ומכאן מכאן שמניקה כל האמצע מן ומשוייר (ed. Zuck. a. oth.) a balcony which sucks from (is girded tto the wall on) both sides and left alone (without support) in the middle. גבלן, הג׳ pr. n. [Highland,] District of Gablan, Gabalena (cmp. גבלא a. גבול II). Sot. IX, 15 (49b); Cant. R. to II, 13 ישום והג׳; Snh. 97a יאשם והג׳ (Ms. F. והגבל) the Gablan will lie desolate; (cmp.Keth. 112a לגבלא איקלע as to the envied fertility of Gabalena). V. גובלנא.
