גלם (b. h.; cmp. גלל) 1) to roll up, to unshape. Denom. גגולם. -- 2) (denom. of גולם) to calculate in a lump, fix an arbitrary price, opp. דקדק to calculate exactly. Sifra. B'har, Par. 6, ch. IX; B. Kam. 113b עליו יגלום יכול you might think, he (the redeemer of the Jewish slave in possession of a gentile) was permitted to force an arbi- trary price upon him (the gentile); [Rashi; (גלם to double) he (the gentile owner) might be permitted to ask an ex- orbitant pricel. --Part. pass. גלום, f. גלומה 1) wrapt up. גלמוד m., גלמודה f. (b. h.; גלם; format, v. Fiirst H. Dict. s. v.) like a shapeless, lifeless lump, whence (cmp. דמם) lonely, melancholy. Sot. 42a in the sea-towns ו׳ לנידה קורין they call the menstruous woman galmudah; R. Hash. 26a. Ib. (phonetic etymol.) מבעלה (דא) גמולה she is weaned (separated) from her husband; [Ar. ed. Pes. a. Ven. גלומה, which version, however, disagrees with the reference to Gen. XXI, 8 in Ar. s. v.]. Gen. R. s. 31; s. 34 (ref. to Job XXX, 3) when there is want in the world &c. ג׳ כאילו . . . רואה הוי ג׳ be lonely; look upon thy wife, as if she were menstruous; Y.. Taan. I, end, 64d ג׳ אשתך עשה make thy wife lonely. [Cmp. Snh. 22b, quot. s. v. גולכ.]
גלמודא f. (preced.) (euphem.) a menstruous woman. Gen. R. s. 79, end they heard a woman say to her friend אנא ג׳ I am galmuda (for נדה), from which they learned the meaning of galmudah in Is. XLIX, 21 (v. corr. vers. in 'Rashi' a. l.).

גלע (b. h.; cmp. גלח a. גרע) to scratch of, rub; lay open. Nif. נגלע to be opened through rubbing or scratching, to bleed. Nidd. VIII, 2 (bsb) וכ׳ להגלע יכולה והיא (Bart. להתגלע) and it (the wound) may have been bruised so as to bleed. Pi. גלע, גיל׳ (with ב of person) to detract from, lay bare the ignorance of, attack. Y. Yeb. VIII, end, 9d משום וכ׳ בו לגרוע שלא (did they send him of) in order not to see him exposed, or because he was not fit (to argue)? VVhat is the difference? לגלע שלא משום א״ת לגלע דרכו היה וכ׳ בו It was his (Rabbi's) habit to begin with vehement argument; now, if you were to say, 'in order not to see him exposed', his exposure was in his own hand (he being the attacking part) &c. Ib. בו לג׳ לו היה מה what could he have attacked (on that subject of androgynos)? Hithpa. התגלע, Nithpa. נתנלע 1) to be scrattched open, v. supra. 2) to be laid bare, be argued. Snh. 6b; Y. ib.
