כונתא(כונתא) m. (כתת, with insertedנ, cmp. כונשרא) [that which is pounded.] spelt. M. Kat. 13b כ׳ אמר . . כי when Rab Dimi came (to Babylonia) he defined helka (v. חילקא II) as kunta. -- Pl. כונתיא, כונתין (כונתיא). Targ. Ex. IX, 32 כו׳ ed. Berl. (ed. כוספא m. (כסף) paring, husk; דתמרי כ׳ substance of ground dates after the juice is pressed out. Taan. 24b אאכ׳ מזדבן דקא קיימי דת׳ they stand around a mass of ground dates which is to be sold (there being a famine). Sabb. 50b דיסמין כ׳ puppy pomace flavored with jasmin (used for a lotion).
כוספן m. h. same (collect. noun). Ab. Zar. 38b הכ׳ וכ׳ נכרים של (Rashi; הכוספין) pomace of dates belonging to gentiles which was boiled (brewed a second time) in a large caldron.
