כלבוס m. (enlarg. of כלב, v. 2כלבה) 1) tongs, pinchers, Sot. 19b ברזל של כ׳ (Alf. ק׳) iron tongs (to force her mouth open; Tosef.iib. II, 3 צבת). Tosef. Kel. BB. Mets. III, 11 some ed., v. כלבה. Men. 63a עמוק כ׳ כמין (Ar. כיל׳) a baking form in the shape of forceps with cavities(which clapped together give the dough the shape of an apple &c.). -- 2) (v. כלב) shape of cross-stitches, figzag of nails in the sole. *כלביא f. (an assumed word for כלבה, after the form of לביא) she-dog, bittch. Midr. Till. to Ps. XXXIX (in an allegorical contest of the limbs) כ׳ חלב לך הא here is dog- milk for thee, ed. Bub. כלבא; Yalk. Ps. 721 כלבתא (corr. acc.). Ib. כ׳ חלב הבאת (read with Yalk. l. c. כלבא; ed. Bub. כלבתא) thou hast brought dog-ttinstead of lion-) milk. Ib. כ׳ אותה קורין לבייא כי גכ ועוד (differ. in Yalk; ed. Bub. כלבתא. .. ללבייא ועוד) and furthermore a lioness may likewise be called a bitch.

כלבת f. (כלב, v. כלבוס) dog-stitch, the shoemaker's pegging of the sandal. Y. Snh. X, 28a וכ׳ עולה אינה כ׳ the kallebeth does not count among the number of nails to be driven into shoes;Y. Sabb. VI, 8a בית כלי (corr. acc., or כליבית); Koh. R. to XII, 11 וכ׳ אינ הכלבוס.

*כלה m. (v. אוכלא, עוכלא) K'lah, a measure for spices. Y. Bets. III, end, 62b וכ׳ כ׳ לי תן give me a k'lah of spices, for housekeepers are in the habit of putting a k. of spices &c. Y. Peah VIII, 20d bot. תבלין כולה a K. is the ordinary quantity for spices; (Erub. 29a; R. S. to Peah VIII, 5עוכלא).
כלה f. (b. h.; כלל) 1) [crown, ornament, v. Is. XILIX, 18,] (sub. בעלת or בת, cmp. איתו, חורים a. חורים בן) bride; daughterin-law. Yeb. I, 1 וכלתו and his (deceased) son's wife. Sot. IX, 14 וכ׳ הכ׳ שתצא that the bride on her wedding day may be taken around in procession, v. אפריון.
