נזר (b. h.; sec. r. of זור) 1) to surround; to keep off; to set apart. V. נזיר, נזר. - 2) (denom. of נזיר) to vvow to be a Nagarite ; to dedichte one's self to naeariteship. Naz. III, 2 וכ׳ שתי שנ׳ who vows to be a Nazarite for two terms. Ib. 5 וכ׳ והוא שנ׳ מי if one makes the vow while in a. burial ground. Ib. 17a תינזור לא thou must not vow (while in a burial ground). Ib.I, 5 נזרתי גדולה אחת Imeant by my vow one nazaritic term which I consider a long one. Ned, 3b ליור קרא נימא the text (Num. VI, 2) ought to read lieeor (instead of lbhaagir). Y. Naz. I, beg. 51a במתכוין לינוד when he intended to vow nazariteship; a. fr. Hif. הויר 1) (sub. נפשו) to abstain. Ned. 4a שיזיר עד מכולן (Naz. 3b שידור) unless he vows abstinence from all of them (mentioned Num. VI, 3). - 2) to impose the voaש of abstinence. Sifre Num. 22 אחרים את אף להגיר lhgggir (Num. נזר m. (b. h.; preced.) 1) crown, esp. the Nazarite's hair. Num. R. s. 10 (ref. to Num. VI, 7) עטרה הכתוב קראו לראששו the text calls it (his long hair which defaces him) a crown on his head. Ib. כקרבן נזרו his hair is as sacred as the sacrifce; a. fr. -- 2)=sנזירות,the laearite's vow. Num. R. l. c.; Tosef. Naz. II, 6 (ref. to Num. VI, 21) על נ׳ ולא קרבנו but not the vow to follow the dedication of his sacrifice; Y. ib. II, 52b top וכ׳ נזרו שיקדום his vow must precede the dedication of his sacrifice &c. Ib.
