סתידראות f. pl. (Hithpa. noun of סדר, as שתתייה for השתחויה; cmp. אסתדירא, אסטרידא) riggings, sail- yards. Ab. d'IR. N. ch. XXXI וכ׳ באדם ס׳ בעולם ס׳ there are sail-yards in the world, and so there are sail-yards in the structure of man, that is, his two arms.

סתימתאה m. (v. סתם) an unnamed authority. Bekh. 30a; Meg. 2a ס׳ עaס דברי זו those are the words of R. Akiba. whose opinion has been adopted without nanming him. Ib. 26a סתומ׳. Keth. 101b; a. fr.
סתירה I f. (סתר I) hiding, retirement, esp. (with ref. to Num. V, 13) a married wooman's retirement with a man under susmiicious circumstances. Sot 2a וס׳ קינוי he husband's jealousy (warning) and the wife's retirement. Ibb a. fr.
סתירה II f. (סתר II) tearing down, destruction. Meg. 31b ס׳. זקנים סתירת the tearing down of the old is build- ing, the building of the young is tearing down; Ned. 40a; Tosef. Ab. Zar. I, 19. Tosef. Men. IX, 14 מקום מכל ס׳ ושל ed. Zuck. (Var. סתור or סתור) and wood of any kind taken from a torn -down building (or a broken vessel; v. Sifra. Vayikra, N'dab., Par. 4, ch. VI; Men. 22a נשתמש שלא. עצים הדיוט בהן). - Trnsf. discontinuance; cancelling. Y. Naz. II, end, 52b ממש ככ׳ הער סתירת the interruption of a Naza- rite's vow brought about by cutting his hair, is like a real annulment (so that he has to begin his naaarriteship anew). Ib. V, 55b top שלש לס׳ for cancelling the nazariteship (the obligation to begin it over again), the cutting of at least three hairs is required; v. סתר I.

סתם (b. h.; = סחתם, Saf. of חתם) 1) to stop up, close, shut. Ab. Zar. V, 3 זיגוב ויסתום שישתום כדי, v. נגב. B. Mets. VII, 5 וכ׳ הפתח את סותם ויהא. . יהא שלא that he (the laborer) must not be greedy so as to shut the door before himself (make himself objectionable to employers). Hull. 43a, a. e. סותמתהה וכבד שניקבה מרה if the bladder of the gall is perforated, and the liver (adhering to the perforated spot) closes it up. Ib. 49b סותם טהור חלב clean fat (such as it is permitted to eat) forms a stopper (to an adjacent organ, and makes the animal so affected per- mitted). Pes.
