who is crooked may be straightened again (a sinner may
amend his ways) &c. Ex. R. s. 2, beg. (ref. to עלילות, Ps.
CIII, 7, in contrast to Deut. XXII, 14) [read;] ודם בשר
וכ׳ טע׳ עלילותיו he e liloth (machinations) of man are
perverse . . ., but the 'liloth (dispositions) of the Lord
are mercitul; a. e.
Nithpa. נתעוות to be curved, wrested; to be perverted;
to deteriorate. Koh. R. l. c. ו׳ . . . מעוות קורין אין we do
not call a thing perverted, unless it was at a time straight

עזאזל m. (b. h.) Azazel, (Eort,), a rough and rocky mountain. Yoma 67b שבהרים קשה ע׳ Az. means the hardest of the mountains. Ib. וקשה עז ע׳, v. עז; a. e.
עזב (b. h.) [to cut of,] 1) to relieve an animal broken down under its load (v. סרק), help to unload. Mekh. Mishp. s. 20 (ref. to Ex. XXIII, 5) שאתה ופעמים חדל שאתה פעמים עוזב at times you may abstain, at times you must help. Ib. וכ׳ עזוב תל מנין פריקה whence do we derive the duty of unloading?
