עקר (b. h.; cmp. עקב) [to be curved, bent; denom. עיקר root,] 1) to uproot, tear loose, detach, remove; to eradicate, undo, abolish, abrogate. Hor. 14a הרים עוקר; Snh. 24a עוקר הרים הרי, v. הר. Ab. III, 17 וכ׳ ועוקרתו באה הרוח a wind comes and uproots it and turns it &c. Pesik.
