פתילה f. (preced. art.) 1) twisted cord, wick. Sabb. II, 1 האידן פתילת a bast wick; המדבר פ׳ the wick of the desert, v. שברא. Ib. הבגד פ׳ the wick made of rags of a. garment. Ib. 5 הפ׳ מן חון except when he has the in- tention of saving the wickk; a. fr. -- Pl, פתילות. Ib. 20b ער פ׳ פסול כאן so far the Mishnah refers to wicks unfit for use on the Sabbath. Ib. 21b; a. fr. -- Gitt. 58a בנר פ׳ שתי אחד ttwo wicks in one lamp (euphem. for adultery). -- 2) string; bar.
