קב m. (b. h.; קבב to hollow out, arch; cmp. גבב, כבב) 1) Kab, a measure of capacity, one sixth of a S'ah. Sabb. 11b וכ׳ קב שהקק הדיוט if an unskilled man caves out a Kab in a log (on the Sabbath); [Ar. refers to קב 2, v. infra]. Tosef. B. Bath. *קבה f. (denom. of נקב) curse. Snh. 92a top (ref. to יקבהו, Prov. XI, 26) קללה אלא ק׳ אין(Ms. F. קב; Ag. Hatt. קוב, v. Rabb. D. S. a. . note 1) kmbbah (the noun from. the same root as יקבהו) means curse (with ref. to Num. XXIII, 8); (Yalk. Prov. 947 יקבוהו); Sot. 41b קוב.
