קינמון, 3נ׳m. (קנם, cmp. קינומא) 1) (b. h.) cinnamon- tree, cinnamon. Sabb. 63a היו ק׳ של . . . עצי the kindling wood in Jerusalem was of the cinnamon tree. Y. Peah VII, 20a bot. ׳כו ויהו היה . . . ׳ק (not ויה) the foliage of the cinnamon tree was food for goats, and the Israelites cultivated it. Gen. R. s. 33. Ker. 5a; a. fr. -- 2) (cmp. אמוגיק) [something enduring,] principle. Gen. R. s. 46 הובקה רמא ׳כו ׳ק המ םלועב דימעמ ינא ׳ק (not שיקל שיר) the Lord said, (by delaying the conception of Isaac until Abraham was ninety-nine years old,) I will establish a kinnamon (an everlasting principle), as the kiinnamon (the cinnamon tree, no matter how old) will grow fruit when you manure and hoe around it, so shall Abraham (bear fruit) after his blood is tied up (runs slowly), and his desire is gone &c.; Yalk. ib. 80; Yalk. קינסא m. (קנס; v. קיסא) piece of wood, chip. Sabb. 22b בק׳ kindling a light from another light by means of a chip. Hull. 105a ק׳ בינייהו איכא tha diference between them comes in, when you wash your hands over chips. Ab. Zar. 33b ׳כו ׳קק as to causing the pitch in a wine casa to melt off by holding a burning chip in it &c. -- [Bets. 22a סניק Ms M., v. הבינק.] -- Pl. יסכיק. Erub. 100b ירתנ ׳ק (Ar. יסנק, ed.
