Could give the guilty conscience peace,
Or wash away the stain.

But Christ, the Heav'nly Lamb,
Takes all our sins away;
A sacrifice of nobler name,
And richer blood than they.

Believing, we rejoice
To see the curse removed;
We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,
And sing His bleeding love.

To God the Father, Son,
And Spirit, glory be;
As t'was, and is, and shall be so,
To all eternity.

O'er the realms of pagan darkness
Let the eye of pity gaze;
See the kindreds of the people
Lost in sin's bewild'ring maze;
Darkness brooding,
On the face of all the earth.

Light of them that sit in darkness!
Rise and shine; Thy blessings bring;
Light to lighten all the Gentiles!
Rise, with healing on Thy wing;
To Thy brightness,
Let all kings and nations come.

May the heathen now adoring
Idol-gods of wood and stone,

Come, and worshiping before Him,
