certainly than those which I have noticed, but nevertheless of considerable magnitude, that the garden-walks here are strewn with sand, and a soft species of sea-shell, which soon pulverises, instead of gravel. These walks offend the eye, and are disagreeable to the feet: in wet weather I would imagine they acquire the consistency of mortar.
