MAKING INFANTS' CLOTHES

AB line is the top of the cap and is laid on a fold of the goods, therefore no seams are left at this edge Allow seams on the pattern at the front line AG and the bottom line GF and the back edges, lines FE and EB.

To complete the pattern, cut a circle three and three-quarters inches across which allows for seams, and when finished will measure three inches across. The easiest way to cut a circle if you have no compass is to cut a square of paper three and three-quarter inches across, fold it in half as in Fig. 69. Then fold it again as in Fig. 70. Measure from the inner corner one and seven-eighths inche

and mark points every quarter of an inch apart. Then draw a curve touching these points. Cut along the curved line and use the paper circle as a pattern. Fig. 71 shows the finished cap.
