Base: f. A base, or basis; a foot, ground, foundation, vnto. Base du coeur. The flat, or broad part thereof; which in the bodie stands vpward. La base de la teste. The root, or bottome of the head; or, as Os basilaire. La base des yeux. The root of the eyes.

Baselic: m. A Basiliske, or Cockatrice; also, the (long) peece of ordnance called, a Basiliske; also, the hearbe Basill; (for which looke Basilic.)

Basenne. as Bazane; also, as Bassenne. Basenné: m. ée: f. Duskie, swart, browne, blackish, darke-tawnie; also, smutched, bedusked, made swart, &c.

Basennier: m. A marchant, sellor, or dresser, of coloured sheepes skinnes; as in Bazane.

Basennier: m. ere: f. as Basenné (in the first sence.)

Basilaire. Os Basilaire. The nape, or nuke (bone) the cuneall, or fundamentall bone of the head; Looke Os. Basilic: m. The hearbe Basill; also, as Basilisc. Basilic citronnier. Middle Basill, or Citron Basill. Basilic d'eau. Water basill, fish basill; beares a white blossome, and a small blacke seed of a sharpe tast; the whole plant yeelds a milkie, and sweet iuyce. Basilic gentil. Basill gentle, bush basill, some also call stone basill so. Basilic gyrofflé. Bush basill, fine basill. Basilic menu. The small wild basill, called by Herbalists, Acynos. Basilic sauvage. Basill mint, wild basill, vnprofitable basill. Grand basilic. Great garden basill, basill royall. Petit basilic. as Basilic gentil. Basilique. A royall palace; a princes court, honour, house; also, a shire-hall, guild-hald, or spacious place in a citie, wherein Councels be held, and Iustice administred, by the publick Magistrates.

Basilisc: m. A Basiliske, or Cockatrice.

Basique: com. Low, fundamentall, belonging to the basis, or bottome of.

Basme: m. Balme, balsamum; or, more properly, the balsamum tree, from which distils our balme (or Opobalsamum; for little, or no true balme is now adayes brought into these parts of the world.)

Basoche: f. The whole troupe, or companie of Lawyers Clearks in the palace of Paris, hauing among them a king, and their peculiar lawes; hence also, reuell, misrule (for these fellowes are none of the soberest) also, a certaine baudie Court, wherein wiues that beat their husbands, are censured. Fief de la Basoche. Il tient du fief de la B. He is a pratling, or iangling Lawyer; or (as a Lawyers Clerke) an vnruly copesmate; or, his wife is his master. Roy de la Basoche. The Master of Misrule, or chiefe man among the Clerkes, when they make their shewes.

Basochiens: m. Reuellers, or associates vnto Masters of Misrule; and, Lawyers Clerkes (who for the most part are verie vnruly) or, such as belong vnto the baudie Court aforesaid, (in Basoche.)

Basquain: m. as Basque (in the first sence onely.) Basque: m. A Biscayan; one that dwells, or was borne, in Biscay, or about Bayonne, neere Biscay; also, a Lackey, or foot-boy; so called, because many that are of that profession in France come from that countrey; also, a bastard. Tour de Basque. Cleanly conueyance, legerdemaine; a nimble tricke, deceitfull part, cheating pranke.

Basque: f. as tour de Basque; Also, a sudden affright, or scarring. Basque de pourpoint. The skirt of a doublet.

Basquine. A Vardingale of the old fashion; or a Spanish Vardingale; See Vasquine. Basquinier. See Vasquinier. Basse: f. A basis; the base, or foot of a pillar; also, a bottome, or low ground; also, a great Salt bag. Les basses de la mer. The shallowes, flats, and fallings of tides, in the sea.

Basse. contre. The base-part in Musicke; also, hee that sings, or beares it.

Basse-cour: f. A base Court, a backe Court for the houshold, or for houshold vses; an inner-yard, or barton, wherein poultrie is (or may be) kept.
