To teil how meikle cakes and ale,
Aed beef, and broe, and gryce, and geese,
And pics a ruuning o'er with creese

To mak the leds and lasses able
To do ye ken! what we thins shame

And soon ſhe made poor Jouk a cuckold,
And play'd her baudy sports before him,
With chiels that card na tippence tor him,
Besides a Rosycrucian trick.

She drank and fought and spent her gear,
Wi' dice, and selling o' the mare.
Thas living like a Belzi's get
She ran herself fae deep in debt,
By borrowing money at a' hands,
That yearly income of her lands,
Scarce paid the interest of her bands.
