Buckꝭ in quo continentur noĩa Baptizatorū matrimoniū solempnizantiū & morientiū in dicta eccl̵ia parochiali a xo die mensis Octobris in Ao Dni a(symbol characters)o [1] vCo tricesimo octauo. Et Ao illustrissimi principis D̃ni ñri D̃ni henrici Octaui Dei gr̃a Angliæ et Francie regis fidei defensoris D̃ni hiberniæ ac in terris sub x̃pto eccliæ Angl̵icanæ supremi capitis tricesimo: tempore will̵mi daniel & Johannis at Slow vicarij ad invicem in eccl̵ia prædicta & in tempore Johannis hunton & Roberti Bachilor Gardiani eccliæ prædictæ.
Note, that this is the true copie of the old booke, or Register, which was by authoritie commaunded to be made the xlth yeare of our gratious Quene Elyzabeth, wrytten faythfully forth by william Saunders in the xxvth yeare of his ministerie in the Church of greate Chesham aforesaid being vicar of Chesham Owborne & Leicester Ao ætatis suæ 66 Rychard wood, and Edward Saale being Churchwardens, and in the monyth of October in the yeare from thincarnation of our Lord & Sauiour Jesus Christ the 1598 yeare.
Note also wheresoever there be any names omitted, they were not entered in the first copie or Regester.
Moreover it is to be noted that in all the tyme of the raygne of Quene Mary there were none of the Baptized, maried or Buried entered, by what occasion I know not, vnles by the negligence of the vicars then having the chardge.
