Cotsford, Thomas (Cottisforde), educated at Oxford and Cambridge, M.A., born at Winchester, vicar of Littlebury, Essex, 1544, rector of St. Martin Ludgate 1553, and canon of York 1553, deprived of his preferments on the accession of Mary, and fled to the continent, died at Frankfort 1555. Cottam, Thomas of Brasenose Coll., from co. Lancaster; B.A. 23 March, 1568-9, M.A. 11 July, 1572, taught a grammar school in London, studied divinity at Rome, made a priest at Rheims, and returned to England, taken prisoner near Dover, imprisoned and tortured for 2 years, refused to take the oath of supremacy, executed at Tyburn 30 May, 1582.
