Christ Church, matric. 30 April, 1624, aged 17, B.A. 7 Dec., 1626; M.A. from Lincoln Coll. 24 Oct., 1628; fellow All Souls' Coll. 1629; knighted 4 Jan., 1644-5, agent at Venice about 1638, an original fellow of the council of the royal society, master of the jewel office to Charles II., M.P. Plymouth (Sept.), 1666-78; died Aug., 1695; half-brother of Francis 1640.
