Tyndale, William (or Hitchins), B.A. 4 July, 1512, licenced M.A. 26 June, 1515, and created M.A. 2 July, 1515, from Magdalen Hall; canon of Cardinal Coll. 1525; translated the New Testament 1527, imprisoned in the castle of Filford, near Antwerp, first strangled by the common hangman, and then burnt near to Filford Castle 1536.
