he has found a place for me in the hole where the other mess-boys bunk. It's a little bit of a room, barely large enough for two. But they have rigged up a shelf for a bed which, although crude and too short for me, is better than the stretcher I used at the front. The only really unfortunate feature about the place is the terrible odor which seems to come through the wall behind my bed. Marty says they pulled away the boards twice on the way over, in hopes of finding some dead fish or rats; there was nothing there and still the smell comes. I think I will take to the deck if it gets any worse.
