Henderson, asked to see my pictures of the front today, and after we had spent some time looking at them, he took me down into the engine room and showed me the whole works. There are always one engineer and a couple of oilers below; but they don't have to work very hard. They burn crude oil instead of coal and thereby eliminate stoking. . . .

About noon they had trouble with the big piston and had to stop the ship for two hours to fix it.
