These series, particularly the first two, which exhibit a more unbiased judgment, show a very strong overlapping, which signi- fies a considerable ambiguity of the terms large and small. It will easily be seen that different observers would use the same terms with still less accuracy, so that we must conclude that descrip- tive features like those mentioned here are of value only in extreme cases.
