General Estimate. Cubic contents 17,688 feet, at 6d. per foot, £442 : 4s. ; at 4d., ^^294 : 16s. ; and at 3d., £221 : 2s. ; by which it appears that 4^d. per foot is about a fair price for estimating lodges of this description. 451. Remarks. For an ornamental cottage this must be considered a very economical plan : its accommodations are insufficient for a small farmer, or a retired tradesman ; but it would not be difficult to enlarge it, and yet preserve the general character of the elevation.
