In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 59 and 80 of the Animals and Birds Act, the Minister for National Development makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1. These Rules are the Animals and Birds (Piranha) Rules 2019 and come into operation on 1 April 2019.
Definition
2. In these Rules, “piranha” means the species of fish called piranha.
Ban on keeping, etc., of piranha
3. A person must not keep, breed, sell, purchase, or import or export any piranha.
Ban on releasing piranha into river, etc.
4. A person must not release any piranha into any stream, river, canal, channel, watercourse, reservoir, lake or other body of water.
