Seventy-five drawings in black and white by Arthur Rackham; also illustrations by other artists. The first edition has the date 1894 on the Great Eastern Railway advertisement.

There is a cheaper edition of this book published at the same time as the cloth edition (1894), bound in glazed white pictorial boards with an entirely different design on the cover. This edition has the picture of a man sitting on a rock by the sea; the back cover has an advertisement for Mason’s Extract of Herbs, and the spine is lettered length-wise instead of cross-wise. Both editions have the same number of illustrations, the same title page, and the same date, 1894.

Bound in red cloth, holly design in gold stamped on the cover and spine, and gold lettering; gilt top. Two volumes. Volume I has 294 numbered pages, and one illustration by Arthur Rackham; volume II has 35 numbered pages, and two illustrations by Arthur Rackham. The size of the page is 5½×8. The Holly Edition is limited to 1000 numbered sets, signed by the publishers. The illustrations are proofs on Japan paper, and there are many other illustrations by various artists.
