A WORLD/IN A/GARDEN/[decoration]/BY/R. NEISH/AUTHOR OF/“THE OTHERS BY ONE/OF THEM”/[border]/1899 J. M. DENT & COMPANY/ALDINE HOUSE, LONDON W. C.
Bound in pink watered cloth with pictorial stamping in gold on the cover and spine and gold lettering; gilt top. 238 numbered pages, 5×7¾. There are nine chapter headings and five tail-pieces in black and white by Arthur Rackham, six full-page illustrations by Jessie Macgregor; also other illustrations that are not signed, probably by another artist. These same chapter headings were used in some of the “Haddon Hall Library.”

WILD LIFE/IN/HAMPSHIRE HIGHLANDS/BY/GEORGE A. B. DEWAR/AUTHOR OF/“THE BOOK OF THE DRY FLY,” ETC./[picture]/LONDON/J. M. DENT & CO., ALDINE HOUSE/29 & 30 BEDFORD STREET, W. C./1899.
Bound in vellum with pictorial stamping in gold on the cover and spine and gold lettering. 304 numbered pages, 5¾×9. End-papers, chapter headings and tail-pieces by Arthur Rackham, and many full-page illustrations by various artists. 150 numbered sets, uniform binding. (Haddon Hall Library.)

Trade edition bound in sage-green cloth with the same pictorial stamping in gold, the same illustrations and the same number of pages, but a smaller book, 5½×8. There is another binding in blue cloth with the same stamping and the same dates, but most collectors prefer the green binding, as the end-papers are in green on gray paper. The green binding is no doubt the first issue. All the Haddon Hall set (nine volumes) have the same binding. The limited editions are all bound in full vellum, and the trade editions in the cloth with the same design in gold on the cover.
